Artificial plant sizes
Want to freshen up your interior with a beautiful, maintenance-free green boost, but unsure about the right size for your new artificial plant? Understandable! A plant that is too small gets lost in a large space, while an artificial plant that is too large can quickly overwhelm a room. At Artifyplants, we are happy to help you find the perfect match. Whether you are looking for a subtle eye-catcher for the sideboard or an impressive XL artificial tree for the hallway: the right size artificial plant makes all the difference.
In this guide, you will discover how to choose the perfect size, how our artificial plants are measured, and how to best style the different sizes in your home or office.
How is the height of an artificial plant measured?
When choosing an artificial plant online, it is useful to know exactly how the sizes are structured. At Artifyplants, we always measure the height of our plants from the bottom of the (weighted) inner pot to the very highest pointof the plant (when the top leaf or branch is standing upright).
Important styling tip:Our premium artificial plants are shipped compactly to optimally protect them during transport. This means that after receiving them, you can shape the branches and leaves yourself. Are you unfolding the leaves wide for a full, natural look? Please keep in mind that the plant may appear slightly shorter than the height listed on the product page.
Which size artificial plant fits which space?
To make the choice easier, you can roughly divide Artifyplants' artificial plants into three categories. Each category has its own strength in the interior:
1. Small artificial plants (up to 80 cm)
- Perfect for:Desks, windowsills, wall shelves, bedside tables, and sideboards.
- Popular choices:Compact Monsteras, small ferns, or a subtle 65 cm Lemon Tree.
- Why this size? These handy plants are ideal for instantly adding atmosphere to dull, small corners without taking up valuable space. They are also perfect for grouping in fun, colorful pots.
2. Medium-sized artificial plants (80 cm to 140 cm)
- Perfect for:Next to the TV stand, in the bedroom, on a low side table, or to fill an empty corner.
- Popular choices:A lush Pachira Aquatica or a tropical 135 cm Strelitzia Nicolai.
- Why this size? This is the most versatile category. They are large enough to stand out from the floor, but can also be placed excellently on a small pedestal or in a medium-height planter for extra body.
3. Large artificial plants and artificial trees (from 150 cm to XL)
- Perfect for:The living room, spacious halls, offices, or next to a large sofa.
- Popular choices:The iconic Strelitzia Deluxe (165 cm), the elegant Eucalyptus tree (180 cm), or the impressive Banana plant Musa (190 cm).
- Why this size? These are the real statement makers. With a large artificial tree, you instantly bring that coveted urban junglevibe into your home. They beautifully fill the height of a room and bring tranquility and a luxurious look to large spaces.
3 Handy tips to determine the ideal size
Do you have a specific corner in mind? Use these three simple steps to avoid ordering the wrong size:
- Measure your ceiling height:Do you have a high ceiling (higher than 2.60 meters)? Then you can safely choose an artificial tree of 180 cm or larger. With a lower ceiling or a sloped roof, a model between 120 cm and 150 cm often looks more balanced.
- Take the width into account:A wide plant such as an Areca Palm needs lateral space. Don't just measure the height; also check whether the leaves won't be constantly pressed against a wall or cabinet.
- Include the decorative pot in your calculation:Are you placing the artificial plant in a tall decorative pot? Add the height of the pot to that of the plant. A 150 cm artificial plant in a 30 cm high pot will ultimately reach a height of 180 cm.
Frequently asked questions about artificial plant sizes (FAQ)
How do I know if an artificial plant is too big for my room?
As a rule of thumb, you should ensure there is at least 30 to 50 centimeters of space between the highest point of the artificial plant and the ceiling. This keeps the room looking airy and open.
Can I adjust the height of an artificial plant myself?
Yes, in two ways! You can bend the branches and leaves of our flexible plants slightly downwards (making the plant lower and fuller) or model them straighter upwards (for more height). Additionally, you can place the plant in a taller decorative pot and fill the bottom of the inner pot with, for example, hydro-granules to create extra height.
Is the diameter of the pot important when choosing the size?
Certainly. On the Artifyplants product pages, you will always find the dimensions of the included plastic inner pot. Ensure that the decorative pot you buy is always at least 2 to 5 centimeters wider than this inner pot, so that the plant fits easily and stands nice and straight.
Do large artificial trees lose their shape over time?
No, that is precisely the great advantage of the premium quality of Artifyplants! Our large artificial trees are often equipped with a real wooden trunk and sturdy metal wires in the branches. Once shaped, they retain their form and height for a lifetime without sagging.
